The New School Year

June 4, 2012, the beginning of a new school year. New and old high school students came to general Santos City SPED Integrated School San Isidro Campus. They were welcomed by the faculty and staff headed by our principal Mrs. Rizza Robin-Valdez. Today, almost 900 high school students were officially enrolled. A total of 17 classes, composed by 5 classes of Grade 7 (formerly First Year), 4 classes of Second Year, 4 classes of Third Year, and 4 classes of Fourth Year. There were also additional new teachers to cope up with the increasing population of the students.

The office of the City Mayor initiated the construction of the new classrooms. Today, two 7×7 classrooms and two 7×8 classrooms are being constructed intended for the Grade 7 class and Grade 6 classes to be transferred here in San Isidro Campus. The office of the Congressman provided thousands of hollow blocks for the fencing of the school. A Resource Room is also being constructed for the Hearing Impaired and the Visually Impaired. The Resource Room of the Hearing Impaired will have equipments and tools needed for Baking. They will have Baking as one of their Livelihood Program.

The new school year of General Santos City SPED Integrated School is welcomed by new improvements. Not only by new buildings but also new structuring of the campus. The new structuring of the campus is like the combination of old school from the barrios and the new classrooms with the instructional technology of the private schools.

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – It is indeed the month of drafting using AutoCAD and SketchUp. After the CMO SHEEP CLP completed their advanced training, the SHEEP team will once again offer the AutoCAD to high school teachers.

January 16 to 18, 2012 is alloted for the drafting teachers in technical vocational curriculum of Lagao National High School – Main. The training will start at 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the school’s speech laboratory.

Last December 2011 AutoCAD was offered to ICT coordinators however due to the busy holiday schedules of DepEd Gensan teachers, some were not able to attend the training. This coming January 24 to 26, 2012 at 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM the SHEEP team will again conduct the same training to all ICT coordinators to be held at the speech laboratory of Lagao National High School – Main.

The two technical high schools of the city are also given slots for the AutoCAD training. Both the General Santos City National Secondary Schools of Arts and Trade (GSCNSSAT) and Bula National School of Fisheries (BNSF) will start training on January 25 to 27 at the school library of GSCNSSAT.

The trainings will be headed by the team’s expert in AutoCAD and SketchUp – Arch. Randy E. Lopez, however the lectures will be handled by SHEEP team of Brian Estrellan, Ernesto Quisay Jr., Reuel Delima Jr., Richard Lim and Arjay Gestosani. They are not architects nor engineers but IT graduates with their own specialized areas of expertise.

Indeed January is the month for Gensan’s future engineers and architects.

These series of level-up trainings are part of Hon Mayor Darlene Magnolia Antonino Custodio’s “Think Global Act Local” campaign.

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – The Local Government of General Santos City through the City Mayor’s Office S.H.E.E.P. Computer Literacy Program (CLP) launched and turned over the centralized webpages of all public elementary and secondary schools at the Sun City Suites, along National Highway, General Santos City, on October 14, 2011 at around 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon.

The grand launching was attended by Mr. Gene C. De Guzman, Executive Assistant to the Secretary, Department of Education and Gensan City Mayor Darlene R. Antonino-Custodio, who unveiled the centralized webpage symbol showcasing the 69 elementary and 26 secondary school’s individual homepages and turned-over to General Santos City School’s Division Superintendent Estrella Lariosa, CESO V, who accepted and conveyed her appreciation to the City Government of General Santos City.

Hon. Kag. Margareth Rose Santos, SHEEP–Education Chairperson, welcomed the guests in her short and simple address while Atty. Paulo Acharon, was requested by the Congressional Office of South Cotabato District, Honorable Congressman Pedro B. Acharon, Jr., to deliver the latter’s message. Kag. Ric Atendido, SHEEP–Education Vice-Chairperson also attended the event.

DepEd Regional Director Isabelita Borres was represented by Saranggani School’s Division Superintendent Allan Farnazo, CESO IV, who gave an inspiring message to the delight of the elementary and secondary heads and all attendees.

The most awaited part of the ceremony was the message given by the DepEd Secretary, Br. Armin Luistro, through his Executive Assistant Mr. Gene C De Guzman who later convened with all the school heads for their updates and concerns.

The occasion was closed by Mr. Mario Bermudez, .one of GSC Division Supervisors, in a high note.
